Taking a Step Back to Refocus

It’s been nearly a year since my last post, and during that time, I’ve taken a step back from the stories that others have covered. The truth is, I was burned out. The constant demands of the work — compounded by attacks on my credibility — took a heavy toll on me. The work itself had become emotionally draining, and dealing with ongoing smears and baseless accusations from certain corners became exhausting and, frankly, demoralizing.

I needed time to reflect, recharge, and regain perspective. The break allowed me to put things in perspective, and return with a renewed sense of clarity and purpose. Now, I’m ready to move forward with a clearer focus, stronger resolve, and the energy to dive back into the work that matters most.

Refocusing on What Matters Most

Now that I’m back, I’m excited to dive back into the work I’m most passionate about — investigating and reporting on the issues that matter most. My focus will be on the larger, more significant stories. Unethical practices, fraudulent behavior for monetary gain, or actions that steal recognition meant for others — these are the core issues that drive this site. I’m committed to ensuring that these topics continue to be at the heart of my work.

I will be digging through all the old emails received at (and reinstalling the mailbox to my phone) from results@marathoninvestigation. If you had sent me a message, and feel the issue is serious enough to warrant immediate attention, please feel free to send a follow up.

Embracing Technology for Deeper Investigations

One of the exciting aspects of returning is the opportunity to leverage new technologies. The tools available offer powerful ways to analyze and gather data, uncover patterns, and more effectively detect cheating.

Not Just Marathons

While marathons will always hold a special place in my heart, I will also focus on all endurance sports. Though I’ve likely run my last marathon, my passion for long-distance running remains strong. This summer, I’ll be participating in the Buckeye 200 and continuing my role coordinating the Coast to Coaster event for the second year — a 230-mile race from Cedar Point to Kings Island.

A Commitment to Truth

Above all, I want to emphasize the importance of truth. In today’s media and political landscape, truth is often overlooked. But, I am unwavering in my commitment to uncovering the truth, no matter how uncomfortable or unpleasant. Louder voices will try to drown out the truth, but I still believe that the truth eventually wins the day.

Site Update

As for the future of the site, there are plans for an eventual refresh, though it’s not imminent. I aim to update the design to make it more functional and user-friendly, ensuring that it continues to serve its purpose effectively.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Stay tuned for new updates and stories — I’ll be back with more soon.

  1. Excited to see you back! I’ve always thought your reporting was fair, much needed, and well-focused on those who are taking things from others (not the back of the packers cutting courses to stay ahead of Balloon Ladies and such). Thanks for what you do!
